OBITMAX.com is a web-based, obituary clearinghouse system for newspapers. Working with practitioners in both the funeral home and newspaper industry, we've developed the OBITMAX system to reduce costs, streamline data flow between funeral homes and newspapers, and simplify the process of getting newspaper obituaries online.

How OBITMAX Helps Newspapers
OBITMAX receives obituary orders directly from funeral homes. We charge the funeral homes a per-word fee that is set by each individual newspaper. We add a small service fee (usually 10%), charge the funeral home's credit card, and deliver the obituary order to the newspaper. When the newspaper logs into their OBITMAX account, their obituary orders are there to be processed.
When the newspaper processes the order, they can edit the obituary to their taste and/or simply cut and paste the obituary text into their in-house publishing system and click "process". Once the process button is clicked, the obituary is immediately available online in their branded, hosted obituaries web page. If a photo was included with the order, the image is automatically transferred online as well.
The obituary fees we collect for you are wired directly into your bank account each week and you receive an email notification at the time of transfer.
Advertising
You online obituaries have ample advertising space for your obituary web page sponsors. All of the advertising revenue generated is yours to keep.
Free Guestbooks
Each of your online obituaries comes with a free guestbook. Your readers simply sign-up for a free Guestbook Account where we collect their name, email address, city, state, and age group. Once they have their guestbook account they can use it whenever they want to add condolences to any of your online obituaries. Guestbooks do not expire nor do they need anyone to "sponsor" them.
Local Marketing Database
When your readers sign up for their free guestbook accounts, they agree to the following: "By submitting your information, you agree to allow Your Newspaper Name Here to occasionally email you information about their services and/or services in your area that may interest you."
In your OBITMAX account, you have access to the demographic information (gender, age group) and the number of people signed up in your area. Through your OBITMAX account, you can email a text or html newsletter to all of the users on your list.
