Harold E. BrownHarold E. Brown, 90, of Hazen Street passed away the morning of March 8, 2010, in Jameson Hospital.
Born Sept. 15, 1919, in Castlewood, he was a son of the late Albert M. and Bessie Clarissa Houk Brown.
He was married to Mae I. Kerr Brown for 69 years. They were married Dec. 14, 1940. She survives.
Mr. Brown worked for U.S. Steel in Ellwood City as a lubrication repairman. He retired in 1975 after 36 years.
He was a combat engineer with the Army during World War II, serving in the 283rd Division from 1944 to 1946 in Europe.
He enjoyed gardening, flowers, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, the church’s Sparklers, Senior Olympics and Challenges.
Harold is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Donald Borger of New Castle; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Dorothy Brown of New Castle, Harold R. Brown of Youngstown, and Martin F. and Ginger Brown of Russellton, Pa.; one brother, Myrel Brown of Florida; two sisters, Bette Riggans and Margaret Reese, both of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Julie Lutz, Dawna Kosior, Ryan Borger, Lyle Borger, Amy Hilton, Lance Brown, Sonya Eurich and Alissa McClelland; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lucille Moore and Roberta Kennedy.
Visitation will be tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road.
A service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
