Martin Michael Spanish, 63, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., died Feb. 26, 2010, at Hemet Valley Hospital.
Martin was born June 7, 1946, in New Castle, the son of the late Martin John and Rose Marie Spanish.
He married the former Margaret Theresa McNeal on Aug. 4, 1972. She survives.
He graduated from New Castle High School in 1964.
Mr. Spanish served in the Air Force from 1966 to 1969.
He then went on to complete a bachelor of science degree in electronic engineering at the University of California at Los Angles, graduating in 1974.
He worked in the aerospace industry designing integrated circuits for Rockwell International, Precision Monolithics Inc., Irvine Sensors, and Technology Applications Group. Later, he became a private contractor and set up his own corporation, FirsTime Inc., where he worked on both military and commercial contracts as well as projects for NASA.
He was a member of the American Legion and supported the Disabled American Veterans, Habitat for Humanity and Project Angel Food.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; mother-in-law, Madelaine McNeal of Lake Elsinore; son, Robert Spanish and his wife, Heidi, and grandchildren, Olivia and Adam, of San Diego; daughter, Michelle Bartlett and her husband, Frank, and grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and David, of Murrieta, Calif.; two sisters, Claudette Hedglin of Pulaski, and Loretta Fusco and her husband, Randy, of New Castle; sister-in-law, Kathy Brand and her husband, Steve, of Shingle Springs, Calif.; aunt, Katie Palkovich of New Castle; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
An interment ceremony will be conducted Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery. Deacon Fred Von Voight of St. Martha Catholic Church in Murrieta will preside. A memorial service performed by Pastor J.T. Greenleaf will follow at Murrieta United Methodist Church.
