Ruth Evelyn MorrisonRuth Evelyn Morrison, 93, of 2485 Perry Highway, Portersville, died the morning of March 9, 2010, in Forbes Hospice in Pittsburgh.
Born March 6, 1917, in Slippery Rock Township, she was a daughter of William J. and Edna Dean McCracken. She married Joseph D. Morrison on May 26, 1938. He died on May 5, 1974.
Ruth attended Grant City School.
She was employed as a nurses aid at the Lawrence County Home for 20 years. She worked at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in New Castle for 15 years. Mrs. Morrison then became a private caregiver.
She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Slippery Rock Township.
Ruth enjoyed canning, sewing, gardening and working around her home, but she especially enjoyed the time she shared with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Joanne Brown of Sanibel Island, Fla.; a son, John E. Morrison of New Castle; a sister, Doris Daufen of Fombelle; a
sister-in-law, Ruth McCracken of Portersville; five grandchildren, James and Lori Brown, Lori and Jeff McGuire, Kim and Randy Reigh, Jeff and Marcie Morrison and Beth Morrison; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William H. Morrison; a great-grandson, Joseph Brown; two sisters, Velma Evans and Lucille Bluedorn; and two brothers, Willard and Donald McCracken.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Carmen Venezie officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Forbes Hospice, 115 S. Neville Street, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15213.
