Byrl B. Delp, 81, of Spring Street, Shenango Township, passed away at 11:45 a.m. July 23, 2010, at Edison Manor.
Mr. Delp was born Oct. 30, 1928, in McKees Rocks. He was a son of the late Oliver and Anna Mae Shaffer Delp.
He married the former Wilma Acklin, who survives at home.
Mr. Delp retired after 38 years as a system technician with Bell Telephone Co.
He also served with the Army’s 47th Divisional Tank Battalion in Korea.
He was a member of the Telephone Union and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 455.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David D. Delp of New Castle; his daughter, Brenda Francis of Canal Winchester, Ohio; four grandchildren; and a sister, Violet Hirth of New Mexico.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James C. Delp.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Third Presbyterian Church. It will be conducted by the Rev. Douglas E. Hughes, pastor of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s local Veterans Administration office.
