Mary Edith Topper, formerly of Hermitage and New Castle, passed away in the Villas at St. Paul Homes, Greenville, on July 26, 2010, following a brief illness. She was 83.
Mrs. Topper was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Cleveland to Lyman Bowerman and Florence Kollie Bowerman.
In 1944 she graduated from Ashtabula High School.
On Sept. 4, 1946, she married James Topper. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2009.
Mrs. Topper was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, the Hermitage Women’s Club, Prospect Heights Club and the former Sharon Country Club.
Mrs. Topper is survived by two children, Rebecca Feigert and husband Earl of Hermitage, and James L. Topper and wife Patricia of North Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Robert Bowerman and wife Betty of Painesville, Ohio, and Kenneth Bowerman of Victorville, Calif.; a sister, Janet Bowerman of Victorville; a brother-in-law, Thomas Topper and wife Barbara of West Middlesex; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Leslie Norton; and a sister, Anna Mae Stepien.
Friends may call at the Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home, corner of East State Street at North Oakland Avenu, Sharon, from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Hink, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, officiating.
