Nancy HinderliterNancy Hinderliter, 74, of Shenango on the Green, New Wilmington, formerly of Neshannock Township and Ada, Ohio, died the evening of Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare Center.
Nancy was born in Williamson County, Tenn., on March 15, 1936. She the daughter of the late Earle P. and Gertrude Buford Odil.
On June 9, 1956, she married the Rev. Harold Hinderliter, who survives in New Wilmington.
Mrs. Hinderliter graduated from Spring Hill (Tenn.) High School, attended Vanderbilt University and completed her college degree in English at Ohio Northern University. For 14 years she worked as a tutor in the Ohio Northern University’s Communication Skills Center.
Nancy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Ada, Ohio, for 39 years, a past member of the American Association of University Women, the ONU Faculty Wives, The Twice Ten arts club of Ada, Ohio, and for a time the Thursday Club of New Wilmington.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane (John) Wendlandt of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Joel (Paula) Hinderliter of Columbia, Md., and Eric (Susan) of VanBuren, Ind.; two grandchildren, Kyle and Quinne Hinderliter; two sisters, Jane White of Charlotte, N.C., and Marie Smith of Houston; and three brothers, Dan Odil of Cumberland, Wis., Kenneth Odil of Austin, Texas, and Harry Odil of Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at the New Wilmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Mussehl, former pastor of the church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church of New Wilmington or Ada, Ohio, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Dear Hinderliter Family, I was very sorry to hear about Nancy's passing. Unfortunately Joel and I have had little communication since his move to Maryland. She was a very graceful woman whom I am sure will be missed greatly by all. I know her last few weeks here must have been very trying for everyone especially you, Harold. Just pray and try to remember time does help one to heal after such a loss! Sincerely Dianne
